Balloon race reflection

 Yesterday, on the 12th of November, our class held a design contest to design balloon cars. I  was in a group with Oliver black, and worked on the design. I enjoyed the design aspect, and attempting to make something unique and well preforming, though our group didn't do to well. our design didn't use a straw for propulsion which turned out not to work as well as expected. we also weren't able to get much air into the balloon as well. all of these factors combined to make our car not go past the finish. If we were to do it next time, I would like to have bluetac and toothpicks to make a body structure instead of the meat tray. this would allow for more creativity and ad more diversity towards the designs, adding an extra level of interest to the protect.

This is a writing sample from term 2 week 10.
TITLE HERE Waitomo Caves.

Dull as it may seem, the limestone was mesmerising. The way the dull brown is shown is  a piece of art; with depth and perspective to add variety to what would otherwise be boring. Constantly, drops of water fell around our group, strangers in a strange land. How long have we been here? An hour maybe, I'd say more. My feet would normally hurt by this point, but now in the ominous, elder rich-like cave, it feels trivial. “Ahead is another cave curtain, this one even larger.” Our guide told us, as the track rounded another corner. The caves went on forever, but I knew we were getting somewhere.

Boredom is lost in the immersion the caves provided, though I don’t know if anyone could be bored in such a place regardless. We reached the next metal balcony, looking over a deep ravine in the rock. Water was below, but  it was too dark to see it. “Here is the passage of the Waitomo river that formed these caves. It still flows and scores deeper and  creates more caves to unearth.” So said our guide. Moving on, we reached another marvel of nature, though it was now familiar to us. The sheets of rock that formed over thousands of years on either side of the metal track; as we passed, water still flowed, increasing the size and grandeur of the cavern.

As we walked through the passage, we rounded a corner and saw something odd. A large metal pipe sticking out of the dull yellow-brown roof. It seemed out of place surrounded by the contrasting metal walkway and irregular stone walls. “When building this area, the builders had to get a lot of concrete down, they used that pipe, looked in and saw something odd, and guessed what it was”. The guide stated, attempting to form a sense of mystery. But memories of my sister's trip guided me to the pipe, and looking upon what I knew to be the sky, but so high it made it look like a gem. It was hard to remind yourself just how deep we are.

Finally, the guide took us to an end of the road lookout, over the single most beautiful thing I've ever seen. A vast cavern floored with stalagmites and water shining in between, highlighting the pillars and spires of stone in a certain grace that I have never seen before. Like what an artist would dream of, or a builder would aspire to create. All by virtue of extreme luck. The telltale dripping sound tells me the place is still in formation; making me want to aspire to make such a thing as that. Our guide told us it was called the prettys, such a name could not bring justice to what I saw.

Upon leaving the cave, where so many things I saw made me reconsider what I know, I felt more touched than any art ever captured by a human hand. Nothing will ever do it justice, and would be a simple counterfeit of the real thing. One quote echoed in my head as I walked the paths I had tread before. “It doesn’t have to have a reason to be.”

And here is the marking for the piece. I scored level 6b.

I am quite happy with this report, my next focus focus is going to be structure, creating a deep link in between the paragraphs for the optimal piece.

Dark life art project week 9

One of our week 9 tasks was to draw a seene from darklife, I choose outside the derelict sub while ty and gemma were inside. Note: selibite gang sub above the derelict, contenental slope in background, deep sea kelp and seaslugs.  

Geocity review

Geocity is a task based around geometry, building cities in the form of net based structures, and learning about geometric terms in the proceses. we needed geometric terms and understanding of there applications to create a city-like landscape out of paper nets. I found the task enjoyable, even if the amount of time provided was impaired via extensions and eula time provided. All round I enjoyed  the task, even if the elements are time consuming.  The main reason for me not completing everthing I set out to do is because I was to ambitious, as in I set to many objects to build, under estimating how long it would take. I also had the disadvantage of horticultur extension, but that was only a block that I missed, and can't be helped. all round I enjoyed the task, and completed a amount that would have been enough adiquite if I had a standard amount of work, but I fell to  my own fault.

Term 2 Week 6 reflection. (2020)

Week 6 reflection.

• I did the majority of my tasks this week, completing as much as I could wherever possible, I didn't complete my Reading time but the rest was just about completed with the complication of EULA. all round I worked effectively.
• How would you have changed it?) I enjoyed the learning in the eula maths, even if some was phrased confusingly I understand it all. the dream scape was at a point of grindy, with there lazily designed question system and general shear amount of time required to complete it.
• I term of obstacles for my learning, hort extension was obviously a large part of not completing work, but in class there wasn't much distracting, and my table group worked well. I also had time in tech to do work that week.
• What is your aim for this week? How will you improve? I feel I can complete it to a higher standard I coming weeks, completing all tasks and building a new understanding and facing challenges as they come up.
• I enjoyed the prior knowledge task, allowing learn and write a lot about something. Here is the slide deck:

Week one reflection.

math- this week I learned how to do divide whole numbers by decimals using long division in prime book (exercise 4) and a deeper understanding in prime factorization on mathletics.

Reading- my reading group didn’t have a session this week and I finished tasks descriptive language and vocabulary.and also read a good chunk of my book on the bus

Writing- I finished all teacher set tasks (alliteration and simple sentences) and finished most of my draft explanation on marketing.

other - I learned alot about breathing in meditation, and allot of beneficial skills in woodwork and some excruciatingly painful stretch positions

Here is my speech, feedback is accepted!

1.The Merciless killer, the green murderer, The technological terror! Humans have using technology has wrecked  devastation on the globe… But the problem could become the solution! The villain could become the hero. With the help of technology, we could fix the mess we created, cleaning the air land and water, making the world a better place!

2.For small little innovators in the audience, when you burn something, burp, or breathe , it let's  bad gas into the air, poisoning us, and the environment. In order to stop this from happening, we need to find a alternate fuel source. The atmosphere itself! We take the BAD gasses from the atmosphere, burn it, and give it back. This is neither good nor bad. It is already in Canada, you can chose the normal Two or carbon neutral!

3.Allot of damage has been dealt, we need to clean up after ourselves, but no machine in the world can replicate the natural phenomenon of photosynthesis. You probably have have no idea what I just said, and if you do, I salute you! Basically it is when plants eat bad gas, light and water, it makes sugar, and surprisingly good gas! Some engineers made towers covered in trees to lock up carbon based on the principle previously explained.

4. ok, I know,how does this have anything to do with me?

I’m pretty sure that is the key word today. Well, I am part of all this, although, I am one in 7.6 billion in counting! Does this make me insignificant? Does it mean I can’t affect the world in the long run? Yes, and no. I am only on, and There are many I there are many others, but that doesn't mean my opinion isn’t valid and I could help engineer something as group, ultimately making the world a better place with my input.

5.in summary, I hope I convinced you that technology doesn't need to destroy, and in fact it our only hope, we be efficient in our work. Come on team, let lead our way to the future!
